Finally a New Nightstand

I have been wanting a new nightstand for a really long time, I am actually embarrassed by the one I still had.

It was a keep it real one from almost college days. Well it finally broke and was basically balanceing against the wall for a couple weeks...classy!

I am a big fan of a manly nightstand on his side and a super feminine one on my side. I really love those mirrored ones you see everywhere but my budget wouldn't allow...so I went on the hunt. I wanted to keep it under 80 bucks. I also wanted it to be bigger and to have some extra storage.

I found this...

Half off at World Market ...yay! www.worldmarket.com

But I wanted it to have a little more glam and be just a touch more feminine for my side ;) so here we go...

I got a stencil and some paint and went to work. (Stencil from Michaels www.michaels.com

Make sure to use a glue stick on your stencil so it doesn't slide while you paint.

I also removed the handle and sprayed it metallic for a little more bling.

I painted the sides for a little something extra. This part was tricky and  I only had metallic spray paint so I sprayed it into a plastic dish that way I could paint it on. (spraying it on would have been way too messy)

Had to go fast it dried quickly.

Ta Da....a little more fancy!

Some detail shots...

And here she is all dressed up and settled in her new home.

Lets see the before again...

Now...

Much better!

Still not sure how I want the bottom. I have all this new space and nothing to fill it with. I am a one in, one out kind of person so I will have to find something.

I would also like some kind of cute old clock for her. It was a fun redo and in budget and it looks more green in these pictures but its really more blue gray. I love it and love the extra space ...my own little fancy side of the bed.

One more at night

Happy Monday!

Floral Friday and a New Brunch Spot

"Don't you think that daisies are the friendliest flower?"

If you get out for brunch in the Fort Worth area I highly recommend this place!

Brewed in Fort Worth on Magnolia. http://brewedfw.com/

They have things like donut holes and fresh blueberry compote ...yup I ate that!!

Biscuits sausage and gravy ...yup ate that too!! It has such a good smokey flavor.

Beautiful coffees

Cakes!! And it looks like when they aren't serving up friendly brunch food and it turns to evening, they are a fun little bar with cozy places to chill.

I never thought I would say I love a wallpaper with snakes, rabbits, butterflies and eagles but I do.

Just a charming place that is unique with friendly baristas and great affordable food!

So....

Grab some friends and celebrate all the little nothing's this weekend!!

Summer Ceviche

In the summertime we eat pretty light. I even prefer not to turn on the oven so things like chicken salad, tuna salad, lettuce wraps and ceviche are staples.

So here's the Ceviche so easy and really good!

First put your apron on.

Cast of characters ...I use tilapia but any fish you like will do. Roma tomatoes, cilantro, onion, pepper, Lawry's salt, Italian seasoning and I use a Hawaiian spice my sister in law gave us. Really any seasoning you like will work.

Season up your fish to your liking tilapia is pretty bland so I season it up real nice. I also only use 3 filets and save the fourth for the hubs lunch.

Put the fish in the oven for about 10 min on 350.

While the fish cooks chop your veggies...

Wash

I use four Roma tomatoes and I squeeze the juicy party out because I don't want it too mushy.

Chop

Chop all the tomatoes, one whole white onion, cilantro (about 1/4 cup) or more if you love it, like us and one jalapeƱo. Mix them all together. Them chill it until the fish is ready.

Pull the fish out and let it cool.

Once cool chop it up

Mix into your veggie mix

Squeeze a whole lime

Let it chill for at least 30 min

Serve with chips of your choice, extra lime and you favorite summertime beverage. These chips are Benos, they are black bean chips very few ingredients and low carb. I also like mine with plain keep it real crackers ...that's right Lorena! But anything, tortillas, tortilla chips it's alllll good!

One more shot...

That's the good stuff!!

Happy middle of the week!
